All of us have classes that we just don’t have lesson plans for any
more. Either they have been running for years and have covered much of the conventional material that we have available to
us, or they have particular needs or high levels which make it difficult to tailor a course for them.
This book is designed to bridge that gap. It has twenty lessons based on
varied and interesting topics that are rarely, if ever, covered by the material we usually source our lessons from. It is
meant to stimulate conversation and increase the student’s vocabulary with useful and current language, terminology,
phrases and construction. These topics add an interesting dynamic to business small talk and get students to practice sharing
their knowledge and opinion. The content is designed to stimulate and inform students so that they can feel comfortable in
informal debate in the real world. This is a tool that all business students can benefit from. These lessons have all been
thoroughly tested and have proven to be successful with a variety of professionals at varying levels.
Each lesson is divided into similar sections. Firstly there is a vocabulary
analysis where words that appear in the lesson are covered. Secondly there is an informative text on a current topic. Following
that there are several discussion questions and a longer futher discusson topic for students to express their opinions freely.
There is a bibliography of sources used to research the lessons. This is useful for teachers to familiarise themselves with
the topic. Comprehensive teachers notes are also included. Each lesson has stated aims, possible grammar points are also listed.
An internet image search helps you find pictures for the lesson, followed by a basic method and the vocabulary analysis answers.
I
hope you have as much fun as I do when you teach these lessons.
